Comprehensive Review & Analysis

Going into Cyberpunk 2077, our biggest question was whether CD Projekt RED could bring fresh energy to the Action RPG formula without losing what makes the genre satisfying in the first place. Published by CD Projekt for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, the game answers that question within its first hour. Mercenary V and best friend Jackie Welles take a high-stakes heist contract to steal the prototype "Relic" biochip from Arasaka heir Yorinobu Arasaka. When Yorinobu murders his emperor father Saburo, the heist implodes; Jackie is killed, and V is shot in the head. The Relic revives V by initiating a fatal overwrite process containing the digital construct of legendary anti-corpo terrorist Johnny Silverhand.

Moment-to-moment play in Cyberpunk 2077 hinges on reading animations, respecting spacing, and knowing when to back off. Stepping into the boots of V (Valerie / Vincent) (Protagonist), a determined mercenary racing against time to prevent Johnny Silverhand’s construct from permanently overwriting their mind.

On the technical side, our bench testing across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S showed strong optimization once we dialed in a few key settings. Powered by REDengine 4 (DirectX 12 Ultimate), Cyberpunk 2077 scales cleanly from entry-level rigs running NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB or Intel Arc A380 up to 1440p and 4K setups backed by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770. Frame times stayed remarkably flat during heavy particle exchanges, and the 3D audio mix made tracking off-screen hazards second nature.

Longevity in Cyberpunk 2077 comes naturally from wanting to master its systems rather than chasing arbitrary daily checklists. While the UI could explain a couple of advanced mechanics more clearly early on, those minor rough edges fade quickly once you hit your stride. Cyberpunk 2077 is a confident, deeply replayable achievement from CD Projekt RED.
