1. Dodge vs. Parry Windows & Acoustic Cue Timing
During enemy turns in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you have two main defensive options: Dodge (B / Circle) and Parry (RB / R1). Dodge has a generous 18-to-22 frame active window that avoids damage safely, whereas Parry has a tight 8-to-10 frame window right at the moment of impact. However, parrying every hit of an enemy’s combo string rewards you with +1 Action Point (AP) per parry AND unleashes a devastating team-wide Counterattack that inflicts massive Break-bar damage.
2. How the Picto & Lumina Mastery System Works
Every character can equip up to 3 active "Pictos" (accessories that grant raw stats like Speed, Crit Rate, and HP plus a unique passive ability). Once a character wins 4 battles with a Picto equipped, that Picto’s passive ability is permanently mastered for the entire party as a "Lumina"! You can then unequip the Picto to free up the slot and activate the passive across all party members using their Lumina Point pool.
3. Maelle Virtuose Stance (+200% Damage) & Lune Elemental Stains
Maelle revolves around cycling Stances: Defensive Stance (reduces incoming damage), Offensive Stance (+50% damage dealt and taken), and Virtuose Stance (an astronomical +200% outgoing damage multiplier). Use Lune or Sciel to apply Burn to the boss first, then have Maelle cast "Swift Stride" on the burning target to enter Virtuose Stance immediately—followed by "Fleuret Fury" or "Percee" to hit the 9,999 damage cap early in Act 2.
